What is this amazing place? Why haven’t I heard about it? This is just absolutely fabulous! Affordable health care services and such a one-stop-shop for a wide variety of health issues for both women and men. WOW!

Welcome to Planned Parenthood.

Yup that eebil place that far too many of your governors and congressmen want to eradicate off the map. Why would they want to delete such a wonderful place from existence?

Because while the bulk of the health care services they offer are listed above, they also provide information and services on abortion and also offer information and services about/offer contraception and other sexual health services.

So women, men, and families will have the preventative tools at their disposal so they won’t have to make the agonizing choice of whether to terminate a pregnancy or not. Which is a safe, affordable and LEGAL surgical procedure (D&C) by the way.

Medical procedures, family planning, sexual activity, birth control and your sexual and general health are private matters and should not be legislated by any representative of your government.

These attempts to make both contraception and pregnancy termination unavailable/illegal have nothing to do with any of the reasons they put forth to justify their actions.

It is simply about misogyny and the wish to assert and keep control and power over women and their bodies.

If abortion was truly about (insert the usually male elected official’s reason here) then they would be doing everything in their power to make sure that women would never have to consider that option.

i.e. They would be crowing the benefits of BIRTH CONTROL from the rooftops!!

And not only that they would be supporting places like Planned Parenthood and making sure that every sexually active human being had affordable and easy access to pregnancy prevention methods.

But since they don’t – and in fact do the OPPOSITE – that tells me one simple thing. It isn’t about abortion or fetuses or anything else but the simple need/desire to make women slaves to their reproductive systems AGAIN.

We have evolved from all of that with the blood, sweat and tears of the women who have gone before us and fought and WON us the rights to our bodies that we do have.

People make the joke about how if it was men who were the childbearing gender there would be a Planned Parenthood on every corner.

I’m not really laughing. Because it is pretty much the truth.

Get Involved
Be a part of keeping Planned Parenthood and places like them open and available to all in need. The more information and services available out there for contraception and family planning – the better off we will all be. Abortion will become rare – but we still need to advocate to keep the right to have that (legal) choice available as well.

Pro Life, Right to Life, Anti Abortion, Family Advocates, etc Please Read:

What’s in a name? This health service is called Planned Parenthood. Not ooops I’m pregnant gotta go abort. Their emphasis is and always has been on creating and maintaining families and their health through preventative health care services. Please remember that.

Only 3% of their overall services are abortions. Chances are the Planned Parenthood in your area doesn’t even offer that safe and legal option. I’ve linked to their website repeatedly on this page, which includes contact info and you can very easily find out for yourself.

I bring this up because of the wide sweeping legislation that is created to simply shut down any and all (if they had their way) Planned Parenthood facilities. A huge percentage of the population can only afford health care at places like Planned Parenthood which are designed specifically for low income families and individuals.

When a local facility is shut down, you are taking away health care services from families – and yes children – and are contributing to the endangering of lives. Look up infant mortality rates in low income and poverty level populations in this country. If anything, the support and nurture of Planned Parenthood and similar facilities should be paramount.

Estimated number of unintended pregnancies averted by Planned Parenthood contraceptive services each year: 486,000.

Of equal note and importance: The federal funds Planned Parenthood receives are strictly required by law to fund only family planning services, not abortion. Cutting federal funds will only serve to reduce and in many cases completely eliminate the preventative health care services available to those in need. The health of children and those who are caring for and raising them will be put in jeopardy. It will make no dent or difference to their abortion services.

Also note that medication like Plan B is listed under Contraceptives. They are not “abortion pills”. They prevent ovulation. If you are pregnant and take an emergency contraceptive, it will have no effect because you have already conceived.  The word contraceptive itself basically breaks down to “against or blocking of or prevention of conceiving”. Which is the only thing Plan B type medication does.

Estimated number of abortions averted by Planned Parenthood contraceptive services each year: 204,000.

Sexual education and sexual health information does not automatically equal more sexually active people. For example, there is a reason that high schools with little or no (or poor quality) sex ed classes have the highest teen pregnancy rates. You can look this information up if you believe the opposite to be true. If you can do anything to prevent pregnancies from occurring in the first place, you should always be in support of those things.

It simply means that those who are sexually active, or will become sexually active at some point have all the information they need to not only prevent pregnancy, but are also able to maintain their health overall. How about fiscal health? STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) cost the U.S. health care system $17 billion every year. All completely preventable.

Arizona Governor Rejects Plea to Go After Planned Parenthood Again. In February the federal court granted a permanent injunction, saying that the state does not have the ability to tell women what providers they are allowed to go to in order to access reproductive health care.

Now is a good time to regroup, refocus, and get a thorough education on preventative health care, sexual health care, and to understand the realities of the benefits of access to contraceptives.

If it all really is truly about Life and Children and Families.
